Didn't think you could get rid of me that easily!! I have decided to put my left handed painting idea into full force and start sharing it with you all. Dad set me up with my art stuff in the loungeroom and i have started off with a bang.
Breaking my collarbone, or fracturing the clevacle as doctors say- in my dominant hand is really restricting me from doing very simple tasks. I need help with getting dressed, my mum has to cut up my food for me and I can't do housework- silverlining I guess (: -I even have to stop working for 8 weeks due to my sling. I had only worked one shift! The only things I thought I could manage doing was computer work, reading novels and watching television. I would miss my daily dose of art making.
The day after my little accident I talked to mum about my art making dillema- i mean, 6-8 weeks without making something!! Poor me would die! So, mum and I together came up with the idea of a left hand paint series. I was really excited about it but worried at the same time, about how it would turn out, what I could make etc. I am extremely wobbly with my left hand, I can hardly brush my teeth with it!
So, after my Dad set me up, I started on my first page. I had no idea how time consuming it was- and difficult! I had to open paint tubes with my teeth and blu-tac my page to the table to keep it from moving around...
Yeah, that's my 'concentrating hard' face. haha
So, withou further ado, here is my first painting in this series.
Yeah, it is kind of all over the place, with the writing slanted, and the leaves a bit weird shaped, but I can only grow from here. I will hopefully be able to see the change as time goes on and as my left hand gets stronger..
Each page will be meaningful in one way or another (I write this on the back of each page- with my left hand when i have finished). For me, in order to recover I need to 'grow' bone... So the word grow became the focus in this piece... The first thing I thought of with the word 'grow' was flowers, plants etc- so i decided to use those elements on my pages!
I look forward to reading your comments and hearing your thoughts. (: Definately expect more pieces in the near future!! Thanks for your support and well wishes. xx

It looks amazing Ruby!!
How clever are you Girlie.
I would still be sulking!!
By the time 6-8 weeks is up, you might not want to go back to your dominant hand! LOL

OMG! Ya can't tell me ya not a kindred spirit! Ya left hand artwork is amazing! Don't ever think ya can't be an artist using just ya dominant arm. When it's all said & done and ya healed, Don't be surprised that ya will work with both hands hun. If ya noticed in one of my videos I switch hands. lol It has it's pluses for using both hands. Keep working on ya art hun. When I write I tilt my page to the right it helps.Take care & don't rush the healing process hun. Enjoty this new adventure! Hugs~Poe Poe
I think your artwork is great with your right hand. My 14 year old daughter has got to have surgery on her wrists when she is 16 which will mean a huge frame fixed to her bones and a struggle for her as she too loves her art. I will too encourage her to use the arm that won't be affected (they will do the surgeries one arm at a time, thankfully). Have a great holiday, I am sure the time for healing will pass far more quickly than you think.
wow - if thats your 1st attempt left handed I think you have got a REAL talent - and this break has happened fr a reason!!!!
